The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has officially commenced a massive infrastructural expansion project at Pishigu Senior High School (SHS) in the Karaga District, located in the Northern Region. The scope of work is comprehensive, including two 2-storey dormitory blocks (for boys and girls), a 2-storey 12-Unit Classroom block, a 2,500-capacity Dining Hall with Kitchen, and a new 2-storey Administration and a Library complex.

This initiative is central to the Fund’s strategic vision, championed by the Administrator, Mr. Paul Adjei, to bridge the educational infrastructure gap in alignment with the President’s reset agenda.

During a monitoring visit, the Deputy Administrator-Alhassan Sualihu Dandaawa led a high-level delegation, including the Project Consultant and the Northern Zonal Office, to Pishigu SHS. The team assed and confirmed the site’s readiness and held productive stakeholder engagements with the school’s authorities, the District Chief Executive, and community leaders, to garner their support for the smooth execution of the project.

The project, for which funding is available as indicated by the Deputy Administrator, will be executed under the New Targeted Emergency Projects (NTEmP), and scheduled for completion within eighteen months.

The headmaster raised concerns about the various challenges they are currently facing in the school, which the Deputy Administrator acknowledged and assured him that he would take it up.
