The Deputy Administrator for the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), Hon, Sualihu Dandaawa has called for an intensive investigation into the recurring fire outbreaks at Northern Business School (NOBISCO) and Tolon Senior High School. He made the call during an inspection visit to the two schools following recent fire outbreaks to ascertain the level of damage and how to restore normalcy to the various schools.

Hon. Dandaawa emphasized that though the reconstruction needs to be expedited, an intensive investigation into the root causes cannot be downplayed. Given the historical frequency of these incidents, he argued that identifying technical or human-induced risks is urgent as part of plans to find lasting solutions to the fire outbreaks.

To ensure a swift recovery, he announced that the GETFund Administrator Mr. Paul Adjei has designated the restoration under a “Certificate of Emergency.” This is to fast-track funding and procurement to restore normalcy and minimize academic disruptions for the over one thousand traumatized and displaced students.

By demanding improved electrical maintenance and stricter fire safety protocols, GETFund is prioritizing the long-term safety of students over mere physical repairs. The Deputy Administrator urged stakeholders to maintain strict maintenance and safety protocols.
