The Ghana Education Trust Fund is accepting applications for Postgraduate (Masters Programmes) for the award of Foreign scholarships for the 2024/25 Academic Year. The effective opening date for applications is Friday 30th May 2025 and the closing date for applications is Sunday 15th June 2025.

Procedure For Applications

The GETFund application process for prospecting applicants involves checking eligibility, completing and submitting the application form with required documents, and awaiting selection and notification.

Apply via Scholarship Portal

All applicants are required to visit the GETFund Website to access the GETFund scholarship Portal to complete an online application form.

Provide Required Documentation

Applicants shall complete the online form with required information and upload documentations for vetting and shortlisting.

Application Status Update

Communication on Application status, instructions and update will be via email & SMS. Further actions by successful applicant will continue via portal.

Application Qualification

  • Applicant must be a Ghanaian
  • Must have obtained admission to undertake a Masters or Undergraduate -Medicine Only (Eastern Europe & Asia) 
  • Must hold a first degree of at least second-class (for Master’s applicants).
  • Must be available to start academic studies by the start of the academic year for which you seek sponsorship
  • Applicant must not be pursuing a PhD or Master’s degree at the time of the application
  • Applicant should not be a previous beneficiary of a GETFund Foreign Scholarship and applying for same scholarship  category (Masters or PhD)

For Local Universities :

  • All Local Universities accredited by Ghana Tertiary Education Commission to run Post Graduate courses.
  • No. All scholarship applicants are required to have a valid Admission letter from a local university.  
  • The basic eligibility requirement is for an applicant to be a Ghanaian Citizen followed by all other requirements as stated on the Scholarship application portal.

  • For Programme with more done  1 year academic Activities Yes, you can, but the sponsorship will take effect from the year of application.
  • What are the required documents for the scholarship application?

  • Can non-Ghanaian citizens apply for the GETFund scholarship?
    No. The scholarship is only available to Ghanaian citizens.

  • Yes. You can apply, but you cannot hold two (2) scholarship or more from Ghana Government Agencies.

    No, once your application is submitted, you cannot make changes. Ensure all information is accurate before submitting.

  • How are applicants selected for the scholarship?
    Applications are vetted and shortlisted based on eligibility and completeness of the documentation. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for further processes.

  • When will I be notified if I am shortlisted?
    Shortlisted applicants will be notified after the vetting process is completed. The specific timeline will be communicated via the portal and email.

  • What happens if I am not shortlisted?
    If you are not shortlisted, you will receive a notification via email. You may reapply in the following application cycle if eligible.

    For Local Scholarship : The scholarship covers tuition Fees Only

  • Can the scholarship be deferred to the next academic year? No, the scholarship must be used for the academic year it is awarded.
