On Friday, 20 June 2025, the Head of Scholarship unit at the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), Mrs. Phillida Lamptey and her team engaged students during the “EDUAID Scholarship Summit & Study Abroad Fair’’ at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) SMS Auditorium.
The event, hosted by the SRC General Secretary, Miss Vivian Mensah, brought together hundreds of students eager to explore academic opportunities abroad and gain deeper insight into the scholarship landscape in Ghana. The fair aimed not only to enlighten students on the prospects of studying outside the country but also to equip them with the right knowledge on how to successfully apply for both local and international scholarships.
The education fair clarified the criteria needed to apply for GETFund’s foreign scholarship support and expatiated the academic and professional benefits of studying abroad. It also addressed common reasons students are unsuccessful in their scholarship applications and recommended the best time and approach to apply for scholarships abroad.
Mrs. Philida and the team used the opportunity explained to the students the required procedures to follow in accepting GETFund’s local scholarship offers, with emphasis on carefully reading and understanding all protocols. The GETFund scholarship team also raised awareness about scholarship-related scams, cautioning students against fraudsters who falsely use GETFund’s name to demand money in exchange for scholarship awards.
The team encouraged students to always rely on official communication channels and report any suspicious offers. They also urged students to be meticulous in their applications and stay informed about timelines and requirements.
The session, was climaxed with a citation presentation from the SRC to GETFund in recognition of its continued support and unwavering commitment to national education development.
